Managing the 1st Impression

Whether you are meeting a new boss, changing jobs or looking for your next promotion, managing the impression you make and how you come across to others often determines your success or failure.  Seemingly small things often make a big difference in interactions with others.  We all have our own unique style of communicating with others.  Learn some of the subtle yet important ways we all communicate and how you can use this knowledge to your advantage in making the best impression you possibly can.

Handling Grief in the Workplace

Your employees are your most important asset for running your business and keeping it profitable.  It is difficult under the best of circumstances to keep everyone working at full potential but under stressful conditions, it is even more of a challenge.  While a survey of 456 companies revealed that 84% had EAP programs, only 10% of employees use them. EAP's handle only part of the grief/crisis picture. A manager needs to do more than just send the grieving individual to an EAP program. He or she needs to know what to do in times of crisis & grief and how to talk to grieving individual and their co-workers. Focus should be on awareness and action.  What you do during this difficult time directly impacts your company's bottom line. The actions you take can have long lasting affects on how your employee feels about you and the company long
after the crisis has passed.

How To Avoid The Job From Hell

A job search is long and very often difficult.  Make sure that you are doing all you can before accepting the job offer to ensure that the match between you and your new employer is a good one.  We'll cover steps, tips and advice on how to increase your chances for a great match.  Come hear about some of the challenges and how to avoid the most common pitfalls of connecting to the wrong job.

Company Culture Clues for Job Seekers

Play the detective and seek out the facts on company culture!  Far too often job seekers look at salary, job title and responsibilities, location and benefits but neglect to determine the company’s culture when deciding on a new job.  For many this proves to be a big mistake.  A poor fit for you and the company means staying in a difficult situation or starting another job search.  Come hear some tips that will help you determine if that “perfect” job really is as good as the interviewer said it would be!

The Art of Small Talk -Networking Skills

In today's fast-paced environment, connecting quickly with others is more important than ever. Whether you are looking to land your next job, advance your current career or simply meet new people, mastering the art of small talk will help give you the boost you need.  Come learn how to feel comfortable making "small talk".

Negotiating Skills for Today's Professional

We all have to negotiate each day in a variety of ways.  Sometimes it's negotiating for new business with a client, or a salary increase or buying a car.  You could be negotiating to get your children to do their homework.  Some people enjoy the process.  Many don't.  Negotiating is a skill that anyone can master.  Negotiation isn't about winning and it isn't about someone else losing.  It is, however, about learning to play the game so that both sides feel like they have won.

How to Hire the Right People for your Organization

In today's environment hiring the right person is critical.  This workshop will focus on how to search for candidates, interview and complete the hiring process.  Learn how to cut recruiting time, utilize the job boards on the internet, and use a structured interview.  Focus will also touch on the importance of training and developing your new employee once they are on board.

Communication Skills for Women

The way you talk, the gestures you use, the tone of voice, the words you choose - they all add up to how others perceive you.  In this workshop you'll discover the keys to becoming a more dynamic, powerful and confident communicator.  Communications Skills For Women focuses on steps for powering  up your speech, enhancing your nonverbal communication skills, becoming an "active listener" and much more!
